新ギャラリー「スプラウト・キュレーション」開設のご挨拶
みなさま。
この度スプラウトでは、デザイン・編集・出版プロジェクトに加え、新しい試みとしてギャラリースペース「スプラウト・キュレーション」を開設する運びとなりました。ここに謹んで、ご報告ならびにご挨拶を申し上げます。
私はこれまで、スプラウトという雑誌の編集とリサーチの作業を通じ、多くの才能豊かなアーティストと出逢うことができました。その中で、作品に光を当てる角度によって、また新たなコンテクストが見えてくるのではないか、という思いを強く持つようになりました。「スプラウト・キュレーション」は、そうした編集者の視点で作るキュレーションの場、テーマ性のある企画展を通して、特に日本のアートに、新しい文脈＝コンテクストを浮かび上がらせていくスペースを目指しています。捉えがたい時代であるからこそ、アーティストが発する小さな可能性に心を留め、また時には遊び心も加え、アートの愉しみをより多くの人へ、より遠くへ、伝えていきたいと考えています。
ギャラリストと呼ばれるのは少し気恥ずかしい… 「街のキュレーター」みたいな感じが、自分ではしっくり来ます。
ギャラリーは清澄白河の、日本のトップギャラリーが入居するビルの中に末席をお借りします。オープニングは11月27日（土）です。詳しいご案内は改めまして。新しい環境でまた皆様にお目に掛かりますことを、心待ちにしております。どうぞよろしくお願いいたします。（志賀良和）
At Sprout, in addition to editing & publishing project, we’ve decided to launch a gallery space Sprout Curation as a new attempt. I would like to take this opportunity to humbly inform you our establishment.
For years, I have met many talented artists through editing and publishing project of Sprout magazine. Through this experience, I have always had a strong thought that by putting a spot light on their work from different angle to the way of their solo exhibition, we may able to see a new context.
Sprout Curation aims to create a space of rising new context in Japanese art through curatorial space from such editor’s point of view and feature exhibitions with themes.
Living in an age of uncertainty, we would like to bear small possibilities that artists rise in our mind, and convey pleasure of art to more people and more further.
I am little embarrassed to be called an art dealer. Personally I think a term like city’s curator would rather fit to my position.
The gallery will be placed at Kiyosumi-shirakawa in a building where top japanese galleries are reside in.
The opening is Saturday 27th November. I will inform you further information and I am dearly looking forward to seeing everyone at the new environment again
